How often you should change the hot tub water?

Many people think that adding a bunch of chlorine in the water means not having to change the water. However, that’s not the case. If you want to keep your hot tub in good condition and keep yourself healthy, you should change the hot tub water once in a while. In this article, you will learn how often to change your HotSpring hot tub water and why it is important to do so.

We recommend customers to change their hot tub water every 3 to 4 months. The reason we recommend this is that as your continue to add more chlorine, it will start to dissolve slower and slower until the chlorine doesn’t dissolve in your hot tub anymore. The hot tub water can only hold so many chemicals before it becomes supersaturated. The water might start to get cloudy and you might even experience grit on the shell. You also might have a harder time keeping the water chemistry balanced.

The other reason you should change your hot tub water is every time you soak in a hot tub, you will leave a lot of contaminants in the water. For example, sweat, shampoo, lotion, body oils or washing powers from your swimming costume. Even though you’re adding chlorine, and other chemicals in your hot tub, with a high amount of contaminants it can prevent the water from dissolving the chemicals.

Also when you replace your old and used water with new water, you will definitely have a much more comfortable soak. You will no longer be exposing yourself to a lot of unwanted bacteria in the water too.
